Use this guide to add Microsoft Authenticator to an existing Eastern Connecticut State University work or school account. This article covers prompt-based MFA approvals.

If Authenticator is not already installed:
On your phone:
If Authenticator opens a sign-in form, cancel it and restart from + → Add account → Work or school account.
If scanning fails, use the Microsoft Authenticator troubleshooting article.
On the computer, select Next when available. The computer displays a number. In Authenticator, verify the account, enter the matching number, and select Yes or Approve.

Complete the browser prompts and select Done when setup succeeds. Open Authenticator and confirm that your Eastern account appears.
Sign in to Microsoft 365 or another Eastern service once more:
Never approve a request you did not initiate. Deny unexpected requests and contact the Eastern help desk if they continue.
