New for Fall 2026: LockDown Browser for Blackboard Ultra Exams

Creation date: 9/11/2026 1:08 PM    Updated: 9/11/2026 1:08 PM

LockDown Browser will be available to faculty as a new tool integrated directly into Blackboard Ultra. LockDown Browser is designed to help protect the integrity of online exams by restricting access to other applications, websites, and resources while students complete an online quiz or exam. When LockDown Browser is required for an online exam, students are unable to print, copy, visit other websites, or access other applications.

Instructor Resources & Training

To help faculty prepare for the launch, we will be offering a comprehensive training webinar focused on using LockDown Browser in Blackboard Ultra courses at Sept. 25 at 1 pm.
In order to join the session you must register at:
https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/5606152962329621597

 Training topics will include:

  • How to use LockDown Browser with online quizzes to help prevent digital cheating
  • A demonstration of the student experience
  • Best practices, resources, and tips for successful implementation
  • Questions and answers

The session will be approximately 30–45 minutes and will be conducted via webinar.

The session will also be recorded for future reference, so faculty who are unable to attend or who would like to revisit the training will have access to the recording.

To access other instructor resources for LockDown Browser, log into Blackboard and select the LockDown Browser tool. Training videos, guides, sample text for the syllabus, and more are available from the opening page of the tool.  Additional webinar trainings provided by Respondus can be registered for at https://respondus.com/webinars
